The concept of "going back" is very challenging for leaders.

How do you know when to go back and how much help is needed?

Luckily there is a model that can guide us ...

Sequential Brain Model

Our brains process information through four networks - think of them as gatekeepers

Fixed Networks

• React to external stimuli to determine level of safety;
what we call emotion is your brain's way of making predictions

Growth Networks

• Respond to what happens in the Fixed. You can override
a feeling only once your Fixed networks have kicked in.

Am I Safe?

The Reptilian Network controls your Fight, Flight or Freeze response.

Are We Respected?

The Limbic Network generates emotions and keeps long-term memory.

Are There Patterns?

The Neocortex takes in data from your surroundings, looking for patterns.

What Does It Mean?

The Prefrontal Cortex takes those patterns and tries to make meaning from them.
